Native American woman at sunset

My youngest one has been working off and on for the last month in anticipation of our school district’s annual Festival of the Arts. This is her time to shine each year. She likes to submit several entries, and I believe has placed each year in at least one category. This weekend she drew an Indian (well to be politically correct and Native American) woman with a sunset background. She took an image of the school mascot and melted crayon wax around it. Over spring break she drew and painted a picture of a lion’s face. Last night she put masking tape on a canvas and painted the remaining geometric shapes in a plaid like pattern.  While my house is messy after her little projects, it brings joy to her, which means it makes me happy. She carefully plans out her projects and is very self critical of them. She wants to do her best and then offers them up for auction items. Any money raised goes towards scholarships for high school seniors. To sum it up, I probably described my weekend best with my facebook status of “Garage floor- crayon wax covered, kitchen table- indescribable mess, dog- drop of paint on tail, scissors-missing ‪#‎lifeofmom‬#aspiring artist daughter ‪#‎make‬ me rich one day!”
